The wetted materials of the <a href="/part/configure/PIV">PIV valve</a> are a PTFE diaphragm and a PEEK valve body.</p> <p style="text-align:left; font-size:14px; line-height:21px; width:475px; padding-bottom:10px; padding-left:50px;">The combination of these two materials has one potential disadvantage over the <a href="/part/configure/NIV">NIV line</a> but also provides two clear advantages.</p> <p style="text-align:left; font-size:14px; line-height:21px; width:475px; padding-bottom:10px; padding-left:50px;">The potential disadvantage is material compatibility. The <a href="/part/configure/NIV">NIV PTFE series</a> is 100% PTFE, whereas the PIV is both PTFE and PEEK. So be sure to check the compatibility of your media.</p> <p style="text-align:left; font-size:14px; line-height:21px; width:475px; padding-bottom:10px; padding-left:50px;">Ok, now the advantages. By utilizing PEEK material for the valve body, the PIV series is able to achieve higher operating pressure. The <a href="/part/configure/NIV">NIV series</a> maxes out at around 30 psig, while the <a href="/part/configure/PIV">PIV series</a> is rated up to 100 psig—a clear advantage if you require higher operating pressure. The second advantage is life. With the durability of PEEK, the <a href="/part/configure/PIV">PIV series</a> has nearly ten times the life of the NIV series.</p> <p style="text-align:left; font-size:14px; line-height:21px; width:475px; padding-bottom:10px; padding-left:50px;">So, if your duty cycles are high and you need a longer life, yet do not need the chemical compatibility characteristics of PTFE, then the <a href="/part/configure/PIV">PIV</a> is the right valve for you.</p> <p style="text-align:left; font-size:14px; line-height:21px; width:475px; padding-bottom:10px; padding-left:50px;">Like the NIV series, the <a href="/part/configure/PIV">PIV</a> is available in four orifice sizes, each as a 2-way normally-closed, 2-way normally-open, or 3-way selector/diverter. The valve series is very compact and lightweight in design. All valves can be used bidirectionally and have minimal dead volume compared to other diaphragm valves on the market.
